It is not only motives from nature, but also the deeper inherent power of nature, Paul Smulders seeks. The starting point is, of course, the well-known natural painting, which is based on ancient traditions in varying forms, but in Paul Smulder's works one can also see a dynamic tissue of organic forms.

His paintings can therefore be perceived as abstract paintings, which at the same time refer to nature and they can also be experienced as natural paintings, which close to nature change into abstract forms.                        

Facit is that Paul Smulders paintings can be seen in two ways, both of which make it possible to experience the paintings full and intense.
